Experience
I've been into midi since the early '80s. Started with an A500 and a Yamaha PSS680. When I started sequencing songs they were merely covers of original work. Later I continued writing my own compositions. The types of music I'm interested in is pop, ballads, disco, dance and ambient synth work.
Hardware
I still have the old PSS680, but I'm currently only using my Roland SC-88 for sound generation, my Yamaha SY-35 used as a master keyboard and a PC 486DX/2 to run my sequencing software on.
Software
I started out with Music-X 2.0 on the A500 (which was later followed by an A1200) but I'm currently trying to get used to CakeWalk, meaning that I have to throw my old recording techniques overboard.
Other Info
I'm a software engineer at a large (finance) software company in the Netherlands, however I wish I had a more technically oriented job. (Anyone offering me a great job?) My greatest dream is to create the ultimate modular sequencer program: Midi Wonder. Other private computer projects I'm currently dealing with are: Internet tools, personal databases (midi-file manager, address book, etc.). My hobbies are: gaming (rpg, board and computer), reading sf and fantasy, surfing and squash playing, and of course creating and listening to music.
