MIDI FilesThere are tons of MIDI sources on the internet. This list should serve as a starting block, many of the sources listed here contain excellent collections.
Web pages and FTP sites come and go faster that most of us can keep up with them. One of the most time consuming maintenance tasks for web pages is keeping links updated. In order to spare you the frustration of broken links I try to check the links on this site as often as I can. If you find any that are not working please let me know.
There is a large MIDI archive on the FTP server of the Department of Computer Science, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. There are several Mirrors of this archive:

The Standard MIDI Files on the Net page has links to over 3000 sites with MIDI files
If you like Ragtime, Ragtime Piano MIDI files by Warren Trachtman is well worth the visit. Even if you don't, Warren's help page has very useful information about playing MIDI files on the Mac and on the PC.
Gerd and Martin's MIDI Page contains "The Very Best of GUS", over 350 General-MIDI compatible files
The Midi Music Pages site contains a lot of files (many sorted by artist), as well as other interesting and unique things. Check them out!
ERIC'S MIDISHOP has hi quality, professionally sequenced Jazz, Rock, Fusion, Latin TV/Movie and misc. MIDI files. Plus many links to other sites and resources. It is definitely worth the visit!
Mikey's MIDI lives up to it's promise of having just top quality MIDI sequences. If your not satisfied with the sound of MIDI files on the Web try these before giving up.
An FTP site at internexus.net has some MIDI files, including the "alphabet .zip's", a collection of "best of" archives by letter of the alphabet.
I think Cadenza MIDI Diary is a little bit different MIDI file site. It features a new original MIDI file each day.David Woof claims to run a multimedia BBS in the UK specializing in MIDI files. However, I didn't make the international long distance call to check it out! The number is: Anthem BBS +44 (181) 715 1942

My cyber neighbor Ms. Moo has a fine collection of MIDI files at Moozique MIDI Madness from what I can judge and a MIDI file mailing service you might enjoy.
Windows 95 MIDI Archive
has a huge collection of MIDI files grouped and zipped for downloading. If the rest of the sequences are as good as the ones being used for background music you should be able to find some treasures here. All the files are zipped with long file names.The Wizard's Midi Links is a page of links to other sites with MIDI files.
The Webmaster of topmidis.com tells me it has hundreds of well selected MIDI files neatly organized by genre, from Jazz to Disco to Polka to Latin to Rock.
Grundology is a original collection of high-quality MIDI music. It covers styles such as soft rock, hard rock, ballads, techno, and more!
The newsgroup alt.binaries.sounds.midi is an excellent source of MIDI files. Depending on when you stop by, there may be tons of great stuff or a few bad ones, kind of like a grab-bag! But there are new files daily, so stop back often!
